Play is the language of children. It is how children communicate their inner world! Through play, the child shows me how they perceive the world and how they perceive themselves. Does the world feel scary to them? Do they feel dumb? Do they hold onto shame? Are they hurting but don’t know how to tell anyone? Do they feel trapped in their own repeating behaviors? They show me all of this and more through play. Then I am able to teach the child new ways of seeing the world and themselves, as well as ways to regulate their body when challenges comes up. Right there in the room, they start to shift their behavior and learn new ways of living and being. In real time, we create new neuropathways in the child’s brain.
I offer play therapy for the following:
Anxiety & OCD

Syngergetic Play Therapy: After 15 years of working with children using different types of therapy - I have found that synergetic play therapy is the fastest form of treatment for issues such as anxiety, emotion regulation, re-occuring meltdowns, and phsyical symptoms because it rewires the child’s brain in real-time.
I also incorporate sand tray therapy, ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), gestalt play therapy, jungian sand tray therapy, and child centered play therapy into my work.

“Experience and training aside (of which she has both), Katie’s approach to therapy is encouraging and even fun. When we started putting into practice the tools that Katie empowered us with, we saw positive results immediately. To be able to process a situation that feels debilitating and in turn find multiple concrete, attainable solutions is a relief beyond words.” ”
